Homework and the 2nd quarter.

Some students have had a problem remembering to bring their reading logs to school especially on Monday when I collect them to check for completion. I have given one extra day to turn these in. Starting on day 46 of the school year I will not accept this or any homework late. (except for absence from school) This is more in line with other member of the 6th grade A team. However, at the beginning of each quarter, I will provide each student with 2 tickets. If a student forgets their homework or reading log they may return a ticket to me and I will give them one extra day to turn in the homework or reading log. They must have the ticket with them in class that day. The ticket will be collected and not be returned. Once a student no longer has a ticket I can not accept a late assignment. Unused tickets can be saved for a reward at the end of the year.

During class on October 28 and 29 we will have a test on

The test is three parts. Part 1 is vocabulary. See post below for study helps. Part 2 will be 5 multiple choice questions (comprehension) about the story. Part 3 will require an open ended response. Study please.

School Book

I have been told that School Book is up and running for everyone. I have updated grades as of this morning at 8:00 AM.

Due to a district wide technical issue, I was not able to update school book on Wednesday, October 20. Sorry for the incovenience. As soon as SB is up and running I will make those updates. I will notify you here once that happens.
I have been told that student and parent access is down also.

Matthew Henson at the Top of the World

This week and most of next week we will be working with the story of Matthew Henson at the Top of the World. Vocabulary words are challenging. Practice them often.

validate, surveyor, ardent, proposition, apt, tyranny, menial, deprivation, resentful and stamina. These will be on your text next week.

All American Slurp Test

October 14 is the day of the test. It will be one open ended question.

The Race is On!

It will not be long until our first A team reader reaches the finish line for 100 steps. Each student will receive a dog tag and pizza certificate. Will you be first?

Progress Reports

It is hard to believe that we have completed over 1/8th of the school year. Earlier this week we passes the half way point of the first quarter. I understand that progress reports were sent to the parents of those students who are in danger of failing the first quarter. Remember to check school book often for grades and assignments.

15 Steps - Due Monday

We still have our reading logs with 15 Steps completed due on Monday. We will have our Test on "Eleven" on Monday as well. Hope you all have a great long weekend.
